    bottom of the freezer

Got to the bottom of one of Maws freezers and found ground elk, But it has been lost there since 2002!

People food or dog food now?

A lot depends on how cold your freezer has been for the last nine years.

I'd thaw it out, smell it to make sure it's still good and then feed it to the dog. If your dog is a Lab, he can eat anything.

Should have made coyote bait out of it about 100 yds out.

I recently found a venison roast from 2006. I unwrapped it to check it. It looked good and passed the smell test. Threw it in the crock pot and I never would have imagined that I was eating something I killed five years ago. ;D

Ha! No doubt. Don't bother with the smell check if you have a lab. As long as you remove the butcher paper first it is sure to come out the other side. Banjo, my moose-chasing lab, snuck into my sister's shed on a warm summer day and ate about half a garbage bag filled with rotted salmon remains. The next day she threw up about two or three feet of the butcher paper used to cover the counter when we processed the fish.
