    Free Float Tang?????

I've never heard of floating the rear tang on a Savage rifle,
I do know that there is usually a small gap at the rear when
using an after market stock.some say fill the gap, some say don't.
What exactly is FLOAT THE REAR TANG?
    Advantage for doing so.

If your used to Remmy's, the idea of floating a Savage tang is counter productive.
