Got a question on leupold mounts on stevens long action??????

Bought the 2 piece mounts and put it on and reealized the rear mount would interfere with the bolt operation and lock it up tight if I tightened the rear screws down.I had to turn it around backwards for it to fit without being anywhere near the baffle or bolt handle.Anyone had this problem or is it the way it is supposed to fit with the windage adjustment hanging over the loading port? I dont get it.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!

I saw the exact same situation with a set of Leupold Std bases.
    Not a good design.

I may order a one piece. That would be much better

The Leupold "standard" isn't a good design in many respects. Any reason you want that type of base rather than something like a Weaver setup?

I had a Stevens short action and a FSS 16 with that mount both worked well. I think it was designed to mount either way, look at the rifles in a Cabelas catolog.
