I just picked up a Savage model 11 7mm-08 barrel for a good price. It looked like it had sights but someone removed them and put in plugs. The barrel is 22" long and I check the twist. I came up with 9 1/2 twist. can anyone give more info? year?thanks..

Yes and no. Savage originally used a 9-1/2" twist in the 7mm-08, like nearly every other maker. Then, for some unknown reason, they went to an 11-1/2" twist for a few years beginning about 2007. Finally, for 2011 they have gone back to a 9-1/2" twist, which as GaCop noted, is far more versatile in handling bullet weights of 140 gr and above.Originally Posted by GaCop
