??? about swapping calibers on Ultramag gun

I have a 111 in 300rum I bought with the intention of building a 338RUM. I got a nice pac nor barrel but the more I think about it the more I think I should start with something a little smaller(and cheaper) to shoot.

Savage called this one their "controlled round" so I was wondering if a standard bolt head will go on?

Is that all I need if I want to do 260/6.5 whatever? Who stocks bolt heads?

    Thanks

Midway stocks bolt heads. I don't know if a standard bolt head will fit.

Looking through a few older threads I found this a few pages back

Looks like it should work fine. Now I wonder how 6.5/284 or 6.5 creedmoor will feed out of the mag

You'll just have to take out the standing ejector. You might also have some feeding issues.

Your magazine feed lips will be set for the fat case of the RUM. You'll probably have to tweek them in to grab a '06 sized case.
