savage 24v-a

Hi..newbie here..first post. I just picked up a savage 24v-a in 222 over 20 ga. that looks like it has been in a mayonnaise jar on funk and wagnalls back porch since it left the factory. the serial number is b401027. can anyone tell me the manufacture date/ Thanks
