I'd say you did pretty well.
Hello everyone, I'm a long time lurker, new paid member, and first time poster. I've really enjoyed reading all the info on this site. I purchased today, a savage model 11, wood stock, accutrigger, center-feed DBM in 95% condition for $300 out the door. Did I get ripped off? I'm thinking I did pretty well. I'll be changing the stock, and barrel soon enough. I may try to sell the original barrel and stock, not sure yet.
I'd say you did pretty well.

I am with boots, I'd say you did alright. Now the problem becomes more of a what are you going to do with it? There are a million and one options out there. Which caliber? Which stock? Which barrel maker? Oh, just makes my head spin thinking about it. So many options so little time...and money in my case.
Congrats! And welcome to the brotherhood of the barrel nut.
Don't worry... you did well. PM inbound...

What caliber?

Sorry all, it's a 308. I plan on keeping it as a 308, putting a McGowen savage varmint 2 contour 18"bbl on it. It will be threaded and get a can. I'd really like the choate folding stock, but they said in an email that it won't be made until next year. I'll just have to get something else in the meantime. I'm still considering selling the stock barrel and stock.
