Thought some others would be interested in this. I know I have often questioned what an extra 6"s will get me other than the leading roll in a less than desirable movie. The original barrel was a 24" savage sporter 300wsm. The 30" is a savage 308 rechambered to 300wsm by sinman. All loads are winchester mag primers and all are published max loads except the 175 63gr 760. It is 2gr short of max. Reloader 22 loads were hot but seemed to be the most accurate. Still need to get it out to 200. This sheet moved a bit on me. The last row of #s is published data. The second to last is my avg. for 3 shots.

Im not sure if Id give up ease of carry/swing weight for 150 +/- FPS myself.
I like the 24" lenghts as I do walk/hike 2-6 miles when out hunting.

Yes, I was expecting a bit more. But, it does make it very comfortable to shoot on the range. If I use for hunting I will switch back to the 24".

My hunting & shooting is @ 300 yds or less. I would be interested to see what would happen if 6" were "removed" from the 24" ?

I would think you would have to loose around 100-150fps. But, every barrle is different as I am finding out. I had a 22" 25-06 factory Savage that shot all loads around 50-75fps faster than the Savage 26" I put on. Accuracy is better in the 26" though.

I kinda thought it would work out like that, but there's no substitute for the actual shooting, as you did. Thanks
