model 11 centerfeed to single shot conversion

Can't find a small shank single shot action with 4.400 action screws so I'm stuck with a model 11. The problem I have is my mag well in the stock needs to be filled in so I'll have one inch of thickness in the bottom. My reason/madness for doing so is I'm mounting freeland rail between the action screws for a off-hand palm rest. Will dumping the mag well and fitting a single shot follower be a easy task on the 11 action. "And" how many different ways can this be done with the same result. Got my barrel today so the only thing missing is the action. Just not sure if I'll be happy with the 11's conversion because I don't know what they look like. My staggered feed blind mag conversions work very well with and without the mag well. Thanks for the help.

Fred at Sharp Shooter Supply (SSS) has developed a Single Shot Ramp ($18.00) that fits the new centerfeed actions like a glove. It allows you to do away with the magazine, follower and spring. This would allow you to partially fill the blind magazine with epoxy to gain some thickness. I have a Savage 111 (LA) centerfeed, blind magazine with the SSS single shot ramp installed. I've used various barrels including 204, 260, and 308 and the ramp works perfectly with all.

Does that ramp install from the top or bottom? What holds it in place?? Thanks!

Installs from the bottom and tilts in. Front lip setting on action metal. Friction fit in rear on most. A touch of epoxy at the rear will keep it in place.

+1 on a bit of epoxy for added security.

Jim Briggs had some single shot actions a few weeks ago, small shank.
