    300 RUM ?'s

New guy here and I have a 116 in 300 Rem. Ultra Mag and need to know if the weaver one piece base #413M will fit on it or is the action too long? Is there a one piece base option for this rifle? I did a search but couln't come up with what I needed to know. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the Weaver number, but it should use any long action 1 piece rail. They are all the same.

I'd recommend the EGW, EGW HD, or the Weaver Tactical rail. The HD and Weaver is lower profile than the regular EGW.

+1 on the tactical rails...i have one for my LA and SA (Weaver 99494 and 99496 ) in their 20MOA models......right around $32.00...you can pay alot more, but unless you're putting in on a real heavy hitter, i don't think you'll know the difference....rsbhunter

Just from a practical standpoint I prefer 2 peice for the .300rum. They give much more clearance around the loading/ejection port. It really helps a lot with the large cases. A quality two piece setup is plenty sturdy. I think its a misconception that the one piece are stronger to the point of offering some advantage. I take it this is a flat rear receiver rifle? A set of dual dovetails would be ideal but very hard to find.

Yeah I had the 2 piece base on the rifle and it is the flat rear mount. My problem is that when Savage drilled the front holes they are not perfectly lined up with the rear. When I mount my scope the little bit of difference causes enough stress to the scope that the side focus gets bound up. So I want a one piece base that I can slot the front holes a tad to match the offset from the factory.
