    Chrono Results

I've got some more internet trivial information.
But hey, thats what its all about. ;D

I bought a chrono here a while back and after a few attempts with it I got some results. This isn't anything profound or all that interesting but I thought I post my general results any way.

    Savage F/TR, .308

    175 Matchking
    44.5 Varget
    Fed. 210M
    Lapua brass (8x fired)
    2.815 OAL (.010 off lands)
    2735 fps.

    155.5 FB Berger
    46.5 Varget
    Fed. 210M
    Lapua brass (8x fired)
    2.921 OAL (.045 off lands)
    2950 fps.

How do these bullet speeds look, pretty normal?

Both of these loads do well for me. The 175 MK does the best to 300 yds. As much as I'd like to shoot a bunch more of the Bergers, they are just to expensive for what I do. Now that the weather is improving I'll be a little more motivated to experiment with the chrono and some other loads. I've been messing around with the 155 A-Max lately. The results haven't been all that great. I'm not going to give on them just yet. I've got three boxes and I'd like to make them shoot.
For some reason I've got this thing for the lighter bullets. Later on this spring I want to see if I can get the Speer 125gr. TNT to shoot a decent group, maybe the 110 Hornady V-Max too. Anybody using these?

Once I get the chrono thing all worked out I'll post some more numbers.

    B

    Re: Chrono Results

Your velocities look good. What does the Standard Deviation (SD) and Extreme Spread (ES) look like. These figures will give you an idea how the cartridge will perform at long range, the lower the SD/ES numbers, the better the long range performance....usually. How are your 100 yard groups looking?

Lapua brass is fantastic stuff. Keep an eye on your case necks, with that many reloads on the case you may need to think about annealing the necks in the near future. If your charges aren't near max, try jamming bullets .010" to .015" to see if accuracy will improve. I've gotten good results jamming Bergers but so so results jamming Sierras.
