Adventures in Tupperware !

This is for those who like to tinker just to do it :)
(or tune up the old Geo Metro and go to the track to see how fast one can really go)

I have a stevens 200 in 308, the balance was barrel heavy, and recoil was a little heavy.
I have bedded the action and clearanced the barrel channel when i did.

But, that's not what this post is about.

I decided to do something about the rear of the stock. I wanted to get rid of the hollow feeling, and add a little weight.

So i started by putting some Gorilla Glue in (to fill up the pistol grip holes), then followed with a mixture of 1 cup of sand, and expanding foam.

as the foam expanded i punched it back down with a dowl to try and keep it fairly dense.
I topped it off with a layer of gorilla glue (also punched down to keep it leveled off.

I also took this opportunity to replace the recoil pad with a limbsavers 10111 precision fit pad.

Results: well before after 10 rounds or so i could start feeling it. Went out saturday and ran through about 60 rounds with no problems.

What i would do different:
I think i would try adding only Gorilla Glue and sand, and letting it expand more. Originally i was afraid the glue would get too hot, but it didn't seem to be getting warm at all (recommend going slow if you do glue only still).

Maybe that only happens with it's used with vinyl .
Glue only would have also been a bit heavier, but i'm happy with the balance now.

....I just filled the butt stock full of sand, no glue..She's alittle heavy on that end even with the 24" A&B .338 Fed. bbl. on the other end... ...But it sets good in the shoulder... :)..
