Trigger guard for Medalist A2 stock

I received my Medalist A2 last week for my new Stevens build. After mounting the action to the stock, I noticed that the metal trigger guard needs to be shimmed to make it fit right. So for now, I put on the plastic one that came off my Stevens. It actually fit perfect. And, I just noticed something on the plastic trigger guards! Mine actually has a metal bushing in it so you don't actually torque down the action to plastic!

Has anyone noticed this metal bushing before on the plastic trigger guards? Has anyone found a metal guard that has the same dimesions to directly replace the plastic one without shimming?

They do not make the metal guards with the extension on it.

I dont know why they made the newer Medalists for use with that. A Dumb idea IMO as they inletted it for a Stevens trigger guard but also cut the barrel channel for a varmint barrel, which a Stevens dont have...

Anyway, go to the hardware store and buy about 4 or 5 small washers(I believe they are 1/4"), stack them up in the trigger guard opening and test fit the guard till it is flush with the stock(or as close as you can get it). Then take some super glue or heat shrink them together to make a one piece spacer. I left mine loose but you can also super glue it to the trigger guard if you like.

Only other option is to re-use the cheap plastic trigger guard.

So have the plastic trigger guards always had metal bushings, or is this something recent?

Recent development using a metal bushing as the all plastic guards would compress and the bolt heads would pull right through the plastic...............ask me how I know!
