New Old Savage Sporter

I am new to Savageshooters and I am glad to be part of the forum. Today I bought my first Savage rimfire. The problem is, I don't know what model it is. When I spotted the gun at my dealer I fell in love at first sight, checked it out , and bought it. I can not come up with a model number. At first, I thought it was a model 23a, but with serial number 69893, it does not fall into the category of 23a, 23aa, or 19. It has a smooth stock without checkering. Owe, it is missing the magazine as well. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

I'm not sure of the exact model, but you got yourself a wonderful rifle. The mags can be found on auction sites and I think there is even someone who makes new mags for those series of rifles.
I hope it shoots as well as the old M-19 I just found, .376", 5 shots @ 50 yds in some really bad shooting conditions, like 22 degrees and wind.

Enjoy the old girl, a few pictures would be nice. Everone is always posting about the new Savages, but some of the best one's were made before most here were born.
