    Savage 99 gunsmith


    Can anyone direct me to a good 99 smith, not someone that is doing on-the-job training.

    Id like to get the trigger lightened.

    Tough find. Not many care to do this due to parts accessibility. I'd be interested too.

    On pre million (lever safety) 99s, you can put a washer under the trigger spring (raise it up) and get a lighter pull - no fuss, no muss.

    Polishing with stones is about the only other thing you can do.

    Don't know about the tang safety models - never played with them.
