    firing pin protrusion adjustment


    I tried to do a search and everything that I have found the links show up as the page doesnt exist. Can anyone tell me the correct way to adjust the protrusion and how much it should be???

    0.040 to 0.045" is about perfect.

    Firing pin should be round...nearly identical to the ball of a ball point pen (NOT a fine point).

    You might try a search for Bolt head adjustments.Bill from PA did have a pictorial for that and other procedures

    Sorry to hear Bill is gone. He was a real asset to this site. He helped me and many others through difficult issues w/ sound, practical advise. He didn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. I wish him all the best.

    looks like it is totally gone. One of your guys needs to make a new one? I'm not home to do it right now.

    I use the tail of my caliper (depth mic would be better) and measure to the bottom of my bolt head and then to the pin as it protrudes. little math I get my answer. Cheap wire stripper to grab the pin through the spring slide the spring back to release the nut lock and adj till I get it where I want.

    Sure wish I had read this yesterday, launched my rear lock washer and spent 2 hours looking for it because I turned the rear nut a little to far trying to take some pressure off of the spring. found the washer and got it done, but sure wasted a lot of time.
    Thought about trying a pair of the pliers they sell for compressing park brake cable springs on the next one.
