I'll second the Strikefire. Mine went from my AR to my lightweight Stevens in 308. Shoots very well, and haven't had a problem with it.

I have no personal experience, but I have heard excellent things about the Primary Arms red dots. I personally have a Strikefire that does great as well. The Primary Arms sights are under $100.
I have looked at a few of them and discovered that you really do get what you pay for. The low dollar units have fuzzy optics even though there is not magnification.
