111 center or staggered

recently purchased my first savage a used 111 7mm with a detach mag. serial#'s g69xxxx . looking to upgrade to a thumbhole stock but am unsure if I have a center or staggered. the shells are staggered in the mag but feed up through the center? Kind of confused as I am looking at the boyds thumbholes for long actions.

Any idea on how old it is? Where is the magazine release button?

magazine button is towards the muzzle. I am guessing not more than 3-4 years old.

Center-feed.

Boyd's stocks are not inletted for the DBM metal and clip usage. You could use the box magazine assembly in the stock if you have the rear "L" shape retaining clip and inlet the stock at the rear action mounting bolt. You have a centerfeed detachable magazine. Using the DBM limits your options too a few expensive stocks. Believe SSS will inlet stocks for the bottom metal.

in my research am i correct that I could convert it to a blind mag? Any ideas the expertise and money this would entail?

As stated in my earlier post you'll need the "L" clip. Press in the sides of your clip and the bottom cap will be released. Clip body and follower/spring assembly are your internal box magazine assembly. That plus the L clip are inserted into the inletted stock and action assembled. Very simple change over from one to the other. SSS had the L clip at one time but don't remember the cost.
