    Short Magnums

I have a LRPV RBLP with 22-250 and 6BR barrels. This is the first Savage rifle I've owned and I'm still unsure of all the different actions and their possible configurations. What I want to know is can I install a magnum bolt head and 7mm Saum chambered barrel on my action? The loading port seems plenty large enough to accommodate the short mag round. If it will work what other parts will I need to change besides the bolt head and barrel?

Answer is yes, you will also have to have a longer firing pin assembly.

    Welcome to the fun.

Is the short action magnum bolt head only available in controlled feed type? I haven't been using an ejector anyway so I assume I can use the controlled feed bolt head. Are the locking lugs longer on the magnum bolt head? Is that why a longer firing pin is needed?
