How come?aftermarket barrels for the 110 won't work with it though
Working on a savage edge and I would have to say its and ok budget platform. Not to fond of the trigger and recoil lug though. Most of the aftermarket barrels for the 110 won't work with it though.

The threads are a little on the small side
So what barrels will work?
I couldn't get a factory barrel to thread into it so they would have to be made just for the edge.
Thanks! I was on my way to Academy to p/u a edge for a build.

Just another reason why a Stevens is still a better option.
”I have a very strict gun control policy: if there’s a gun around, I want to be in control of it.”

Stevens is defiantly a better choice. The edge has a cheapy feel to it. The small plastic tab that holds the plastic mag in doesn't help any. The trigger group can fall out of the action when the rifle is out of the stock too.
Interesting.....
Could have sworn that others here stated how the Edge/Axis barrels were the same as the Savage/Stevens barrels?
I could not get a factory 110 barrel or a mcgowen to screw in and I had to cut my threads deeper than a normal savage barrel so I wouldn't count on it working.
Do you have a 1-2 inch micrometer or 6 inch caliper to measure the OD of the threads?
I have a 358 win. that was just built on an Edge action. (it was supposed to be on a Stevens 200) It's got a Savage Adams& Bennett barrel from Midway. AND it shoots GREAT. I'm talkin 1/2 to 3/4" groups (basically one big hole) and it has less than 20 rounds through it. I haven't got to shoot much because of the weather. My brother in law had no problems at all installing the new barrel on the Edge action. He did say he had a heck of a time getting the factory barrel off , there was some kind of hard substance on the threads. It looked like little grains of black sand. Once he got all that off the threads in the action the 358 barrel screwed right in place. I must say that the trigger on the Edge is terrible. HEAVY!! It's like 6#'s or so , It seems like it takes forever for the trigger to break. I think I would be happy if I could get it down to at least 3#'s. I cant complain about it though because He put the gun together and gave it to me as a Christmas gift. I did buy the barrel though. All in all it's a very nice gun. Not too heavy, has a good recoil pad ,the detachable magazine is a plus also.
it measures 1.050" so if you have a barrel with threads on the smaller side they might work but I wouldn't expect it to work perfect
It could be they used a different thread tol. class on some of the barrels. Sounds like it is basicaly the same thread size. Why they would do that, well who knows, its Savage.

Borrow a set of thread wires and measure the threads
