    redding bushing dies 308/260

i got a set of the redding bushing dies in 260rem, my understanding is the 260 and 308 are the same except for the necks.

could a bushing suitable for a 308 be used in a 260 die to size 308 brass?

I have not tried it in a Redding die, but did try it in a Forster Bushing Bump die - didn't work without mods. The opening at the neck may be too small for .308 brass to fit through. You can try it by taking the bushing out of the die and slipping a piece of FL/sized brass into the body of the die.

I qualify this by saying I was trying to set up a Forster .243 bushing bump die to size both .243 Win and .260 Rem (at the time Forster didn't make a bushing bump die for the 260 Rem). The hole at the neck of the die body was too small so I took it to a tool/die shop and had them hone out the opening to allow an unsized 260 case to slip through. I set both the 260 and the 243 to the same headspace using the same guage. Now I can use the same die to size both calbers with just a bushing change.

well i tried it, it basically just made a .260 case. i could open the die up if i wanted to and it would work, and then modify the bushing w/ a bevel to get down to .264 for the 260 rds.
