    First Blood with savage

It was a steady light rain all evening but i just couldn't help but take the new 260 out and try it out on a few groundhogs. I found two that decided to peek out of there holes, the one closet to the gun was at 125 yards and the other one was at 235 yards, both hogs only had their head out of the holes. These 95 grain v-max's deffinatly go splat, This makes kills 98 and 99 for me for the year.

Definitely more head damage than the Racoon I got with my .22 Mark II this morning. All I got was the little hole in the head with blood squirting out. ::)

I didnt chrono, but its 41 grains of RL 15 from a 26 inch barrel, prob 3100 or so, seems to shoot flat out to 235 anyway. ;D

Oh yeah, forgot to add that the brake is working, first shot was on 16 power and second shot was on 18 power and saw the impact both times, it was quite a show.

Thanks for the pix. Is the brake from Sinman? Did you time it with shims or crush washers? I ordered one and a barrel, looks like the same type. Bill

thanks, The brake is a holland,I like it alot, I have spotted every hit, If your talking about timing the action i didnt do any of that, no truing either, the stevens action is just how it left the factory, Its shooting .25 groups so im going to let it the way it is.

my 110 in 30-06 shoots .25''groups or less @ 100ydsout of the box. unreal!!

it's got that acutrigger, and i think that plays a big part of it.

I've got a timney trigger in my .223howa,,and it shoots .25''groups or less at a 100yds,,,i like my savage trigger better.

I'm from ohio,,,and those damhogs arn't easy to get killed,, good shooting.
