    AK imp calibers


    Hi I searched but came up empty, I know AK imp calibers are faster but are they harder on throat's the same or less harsh.

    I found plenty of posts but none really talk about barrel throats mostly velocity and case growth.
    RUMs are like woman in Stiletto heals, you know they are going to put you in the poor house, but that has never stopped anyone from pursuing them.

    It's really pretty simple. The more powder you shove down the barrel at great pressure, the greater the erosion rate.

    Some people theorize that the increased shoulder angle directs the "flame" of the powder more into the case neck and not so much in the throat area of the barrel. Who knows.

    I have not seen a whole lot written about AI's having shorter barrel lifes, but as uncle Jack said, more powder should mean more erosion.

    Barrels eventually ware out and depending upon the cartridge/caliber, you are likely to get your moneys worth out of what ever you decide.
