    Savage 110 High Country question

I have a question for you Savage guys,
    I have a 110 High Country 308 with accutrigger,
there is a slot in the trigger that lets the accutrigger lever pass the trigger without touching the trigger.
The trigger can be pulled with your finger without depressing the lever.
Looks like this defeats the purpose of the lever???
any info would be helpfulClick image for larger version.

Try this: pull the trigger normally, then pull just the edge of the trigger, bypass assign the Accutrigger Blade. Do they sound different? Better yet: Take your barreled Action out of the stock then rack the bolt & pull the trigger. Now tell us what happens. Or… a 3rd option: go to your range, load a fresh round and of 308, then aim at the target & again, pull just the edge of the trigger bypassing the Accutrigger Blade. Now do it again, and again. Didn’t fire, did it? Doesn’t matter how many times you pull the trigger like that, the rifle will not fire.

Your Accutrigger is doing precisely what it should.

What you are missing about the AccuRelease Lever is because the picture is off a little. The upper part of the lever is not at the end of the line in the picture. The upper part of the lever is that little darker black piece above the end of the line and just to the left of the sear. So when the triger is pulled by itself, or it is jolted, the trigger releases the sear. The AccuRelease Lever stops further travel of the sear and does not release the firing pin.

When the blade is pulled first, that Lever is moved out of the way. Then further movement of the finger on the trigger then releases the sear and the rifle fires.

As Dave is alluding to, if you just pull the trigger without touching the blade you will hear a slight sound as the sear hits the Lever. This will be a different sound than the firing pin makes when it is released in normal operation.

Look directly behind (to the left) the sear in your picture and you'll see a portion of the safety blade. If you pull the trigger without depressing the safety blade that portion of the safety blade blocks the sear and rifle will not fire.

This picture clearly shows the operation when the action being discussed happens. Ya know that what that whole A picture is worth a thousand words thing?
