For a while, my 24" DVH .300 Savage barrel has been without a scope, but that changed yesterday. A friend from another forum found me a Swarovski PF 8x50 with illuminated reticle for less than the price of a Z3. The PF/PV/PH lines represented some of the best low-light scopes Swarovski ever made, and this 8x50 does not disappoint. The heavy reticle is basically a heavy #4 in which a small dot illuminates in the center. This one was made in 2003, and the glass is still pristine.

I've never seen one of these here in the US. This one comes from Europe.

It's sighted in with my favored load and ready for action.

Optically, it is very close in low-light performance to the excellent Zeiss Diatal Classic 7x50 that I've been running on my 6.5 BRM. Along with the arrival of the Swaro yesterday was another Zeiss 7x50, the lone difference being that this one has a #40 reticle, which is virtually the same as what I described above in the 8x50. The 7x50 on my BRM has the #60. Now I just need to figure out what I am going to part with to pay for these!

There's no cure for the Contender or optics addictions ha ha.
