Model 112 series J barrel confusion.

    Hello all,
I have a savage model 112 series J chambered in .220 Swift. As you all know it’s a barrel burner and I’m looking for a replacement barrel. Ive been getting conflicting information on 110 barrels fitting. Can someone point me in the direction of a replacement barrel for this thing?

What is your question? Your 112 is a standard Small Shank, 110 series Action. Any regular Small Shank, Prefit Barrel will work.

You can literally go on Google & type in Savage 110 Prefit Barrel. And simply choose whichever brand you like in Small Shank.

That was exactly to answer that I needed. I’ve been told 110 barrels won’t work in a 112, also been told they will work. Just trying to get a clarifying answer!

The only differences in Savage are Pre-‘66 & Post-‘66 Actions, then with the vast majority being after 1966, the only difference for Barrels is Large & Small Shank. Shank size is easily determined by looking at the Barrel Nut used. However, there is absolutely no difference among barrels fitting models 10/110, 11/111, 12/112, 14/114 or 16/116. The aforementioned, are the only determining factors for barrel fitment.

No fixed sights? Any small shank barrel will fit. Only issue is how fat and will it fit in the forearm. End of discussion!!

I started out with a 110V "J" actioned rifle in .223. Maybe 1985? Been a test bed for just about every caliber I've tried. Learned a LOT about Savage rifles over the years from that 110V. Might get buried with me when I die.
And I remember, back in the early days of Savage Shooters, one of the forum regular Guys was BIG on the .220 Swift barrel burners. Think he bought up all that he could find.
