Savage Edge .223 bolt action problems

Hi everyone, I just joined today as I am trying to find a solution to my problem. I just got my Savage Edge .223 rifle and it came new in the box. The bolt action was packed separate and when I put it in the bolt will not close. I did some research online and found that the "sear bolt" is actually in the way and preventing the action from sliding down.

Any help or pictures would be great! Thank you!

Have you tried pulling the trigger and holding down the cocking indicator as you install the bolt?

Sounds like it became un-cocked while in transit. Re-cock it and that should take care of your problem. It helps if you loosen the Bolt Action Screw (BAS), it makes it easier to cock it. The BAS can be super tight so put an allen wrench in it, set the bolt/wrench on the floor and literally stand on it. This will break the BAS loose. Don't gorilla tighten it when you done and it will come apart easier the next time you need to disassemble it.
