    Crackshot-26

A friend gave me this rifle and it seems to work fine. After I got it home I took it apart and cleaned and lubed it. Next range trip it functioned fine and never failed to fire or eject. The best part is it's so small it doesn't take up much space in my safe! Not exactly sure of it's age as I haven't found a serial number on it anywhere.

It’s one of the Boys Rifles. Made at a time when making firearms for kids wasn’t taboo! LOL! The Steven’s Crackshot was originally released in 1890, but had a slight redesign in 1912. So the model 26 went unperturbed from 1913 to 1941. To my knowledge, there is no way of identifying exact year of production. They are great little starter rifles for kids. And a nice little piece of history.

I just did a complete disassembly and conservation of my grandfather's CrackShot. It was made in 1926, near as I can tell. He called it his "hog gun" (butchering) and it killed a bunch of hogs (and squirrels) over three generations. Surprisingly accurate: I used CMP match .22 and that is squirrel medicine.
