Nice rifle. I am currently looking for the same in .22 magnum. Just find the serial number and call Savage.

    Thanks for the link.
This is my 1st savage. I have always been loyal to Marlin in the past. The .22 Hornet has just tweaked my intrest and Savage has a reputation for quality.

It was made in 2006. There were only a coupla hundred made, it was basically the model 40 without the accutrigger and laminated stock.

    Don't know but being a Hornet I would guess 12 or 14.

Hi. I'm a newby here. I also have a Mod 93 in .17rfm. Can I buy barrels in .22 Hornet, K-Hornet, and .218 Bee to fit the Mod 93?

i don't believe you can change barrels on a rimfire action, i read somewhere that they are soldered or something similar, to the action. there are more people on here that have more knowledge than i do so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Wouldn't matter if you could change the barrels, the firing pin won't work. Rimfire vs centerfire???

    Re: .22 hornet

    1. The barrels on Savage rimfires are pressed into the action, then pinned. They are not threaded and are not considered interchangeable.

    2. As noted, the firing pin will hit in the wrong place

    3. The rimfire action isn't nearly strong enough to handle the pressure and back thrust of a center fire round, even the Hornet.
