Factory Savage 110 Magpul Hunter short barrel

Does anybody shoot the factory 110 Magpul hunter in 6.5CM? Looking at a used LEFTHANDED 110 Magpul Hunter rifle and am a little concerned about the 18" barrel length. Searching 18" barrel and 6.5CM gets me info on MV which doesn't seem affected, but nothing on accuracy. Will be used for deer hunting out to 300yds. No plans to add a suppressor or muzzle break. We have a Axis youth/compact with 20" barrel in .243win. Added a Boyd's thumbhole stock when my son out grew the youth stock and it is very accurate. Any info would be great! Included link to rifle.

You will be fine for deer to 300yds. The deer will have no idea how fast the bullet was traveling, and at 300 still plenty of oomph for terminal performance. If you were looking at longer ranges I might worry more just cause the energy on impact will drop fast, but I think you’re fine.

It will be fine. 300yds is well within the ethical range for 6.5CM from 18” barrel Ballistics. And as for accuracy, it’s very much within more than acceptable parameters for MOD. That’s Minute Of Deer, incase it wasn’t immediately figured out, Yeeuk, yeeuk, yeeuk

Seriously, as pdog said, the deer won’t know the difference. Granted a clean shot, it will go down same as if a 300WM was used.
