    6BR Mod 12 LRPV Identification

So I recently purchased my 3rd Mod 12 Action rifle. But I'm confused by the characteristics/looks.

I have the LRP in 243 and a Single Shot Target (Right Bolt Left Port) in 284. This recently purchased one is supposed to be the LRPV.

Now from the website I can see the LRPV also has a single port on the left and right bolt. The one I bought has a dual port. I thought it might be the Fclass or BR variant if you look at the acrion only.. But it has the fluted barrel (original Savage) which contradicts that.

Mine comes with an extra custom stock and the original HS precision.

I'm slightly confused about what I actually got. Still excited none the less.

    Regards From South Africa.

Yours a specific the Mod 12 Benchrest, BR Norma Rifle, I believe. With the Palma dual port Action that uses 3.440” Action screw spacing.

Since it comes with 2 stocks I will assume you bought this used.
    So it could be:
A)started as a Benchrest model and they swapped out the benchrest stock for the LRPV stock and also an aftermarket stock?
B)was an LRPV and they swapped the action for a dual port?
C)special order LRPV from Savage with a dual port?
    D) was completely built from separate parts purchased separately.

I’d say of these that “A” or “D” is probably the most likely scenario.

I tend to accept this explanation.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Thanks for the responses. Makes me think it was probably put together with different parts.

Yes it is 2nd hand. It's from a deceased estate so no info from the original owner. Got it at a good price and seems to be in mint condition (borescope shows low round count on the barrel)

I sent an email to Savage about a week ago with the serial number to assist me with the identification but no response.

I would love to know the story behind this gun.

I'll give some updates if I find something.

Please share your thoughts if anyone has something to add or has a theory further explaining this.

    Regards
    Frans

Sounds like you got a really nice rifle. Since there were extra stocks sounds like the guy might have just built the rifle instead of buying it as is.

This would indicate these existed at some point. Here is a link showing an identical rifle. It’s the Dual port Palma Action with factory Savage 30” fluted barrel. And appears to be the same stock. https://www.proxibid.com/lotinformat...br-norma-rifle

Unless this is the same rifle the OP purchased, LOL!

That’s not an LRPV stock. That is the 12Benchrest stock, so it would have the 30” barrel and a dual port

There are many more pictures showing it’s a factory barrel & dual port action, but this is rifle.
