Savage 110 apex hunter xp 3-9x40

I purchased this rifle from a large sports retailer who cannot help me. This rifle has a 3 shot internal magazine. I want to install a 10 round magazine, as sold on the net. I called Savage arms and they said it would be, at the time, about $150 in parts but I would have to change the stock. I have the polymer stock now. He also said I would have to bring it to a gunsmith. That aside, I looked at the bottom of the plastic stock that came with the rifle and it appears there is an outline of where the magazine would be. Why can't that area be cut out, hardware purchased from Savage, instead of getting a whole new stock?

You need to be in the 110 forum. This is the Axis forum. The Savage 110 & Axis are two different rifles sharing several parts like the barrel & nut, but are different Actions altogether.

To start, what cartridge do you have? Is is 6.5 Creedmoor or something else? Are you speaking of changing to the AICS 10rd mag or the Savage 10rd mag? Yours has the little plastic tab release on the front of the magazine, right?

This is the easiest way to have a 10rd mag.
