    Savage Model 99E

I have a Savage Model 99E, when I first started to shoot this firearm, I shot 50 rounds with no issues, took the rifle apart and completed a deep clean including the bolt and firing pin assembly. When I put it back together and began to use, several of the primers would not ignite (possible "light" strike). If I wait, then cycle the same cartridge in to the breach, about 90% of the time the primer will ignite. Any ideas about why this is occurring?

The 99 can be a tricky fire arm to completely disassemble and clean. Did you remove the rotary magazine and spindle assembly for cleaning also?

Interesting. I'd think that any issues involved would be in the bolt assembly and lever, since those affect the bolt locking up fully and also headspace. I've pulled several bolts and levers from mine and reassembled w/o problem.

Is it specific ammunition doing it? One brand/lot? Or anything you try? I've had some Federal that did that to me on a 99 in the past and other brands worked fine. It was odd.
