    Savage Pump .22----What Model????

I have a Savage pump .22 rifle that I have no clue what it is. Maybe someone has one or has seen one like it. Thanks for your time.

    Thanks for the reply shelbyfan.
I thought it was a 1909 at first because of the round barrel. However this rifle has a hump backed receiver where all 1903/1909 rifles I have observed have rounded contour receivers. The only markings found on this rifle are on the Barrel - ".22 Long Rifle Crimped Smokeless CTG." with no model designation present.
The magazine is stamped -22 S L & LR SAVAGE ARMS COMPANY UTICA, NY-. There are no patent dates either on the gun or the magazine.
I have heard that Savage made a variation of there pump rifles that were sold only to Shooting Gallery's and were not cataloged or otherwise available for public purchase. However I can neither confirm or deny this story so here we are.... :)

Yeah. I might not be exact on the model number, you seem to know more than me, I only had a faint recolection of the model number and had to check Numrichs to make sure.

You think it is difficult tracking down model numbers, while I cannot prove this, I believe Mossberg messed with their 22's just to screw with people, especially store brands.

MYSTERY SOLVED and it is a good one too.......

Turns out this is not a Savage however in many ways it is.......Confused Yet!??

This is a Baker Batavia Gun Co.(Batavia, NY) made for and patented by a fellow named Febiger that hailed from New Orleans, LA.
Febiger was suied by Savage and forced to cease production but allowed to sell off all remaining parts and guns without putting their name on them.
Apparently there are only 7000 of these gems floating around so they are fairly scarce.

The gun was a pump actuated semi-automatic that looked and operated like a Savage 1909 in so many respects that is why this one has a Savage marked magazine.

Thanks to all who viewed this post and to those who responded.

Very cool on the history. Does that mean that the parts are interchangeable?

Other than the magazine I am not sure as I have yet to find a parts schematic or breakdown for each gun.
I have a copy of the Savage cease and desist order. Another collector e-mailed me with the details and
    Identified the rifle for me.
