Happy to be a new owner of a 1958 Savage 99. I always wanted to have one, and obtained a very nice 99 in 300 Savage last week. It has the Balvar 2.5-8 scope with the adjustable mounts. I am asking your help/experience with:
1. Making adjustments to the mount. Do you need to loosen the non-adjusting side screws prior to adjusting for windage and elevation.
2. The scope has some particles in the lens. Any experience cleaning the optics?
3. I am looking for a Redfield Peep sight. I believe it is the LH70 model. Can anyone confirm that, and does anyone have one know where I may obtain one. Also, do you know if the receiver needs to be tapped to install that sight.
