Savage short action bolt body length.

For those of you with 1st gen and various other generation short actions. Is there a difference in the actual bolt body length. Thanks in advance.

The first gen is longer. Almost positive The 2nd gen(staggerfeed) and 3rd gen(centerfeed) should be the same length. I can measure those two in a couple hours when I get home to be sure, unless someone can confirm it in the meantime.

PDog, can you tell me what that was. without the bolt handle tabs. I will compare it to my 1st Gen.

No problem at all. When you measure your first gen let us know what it is in case anyone is curious or needs the info.

PDog, mystery solved, My first gen bolt body measured 5.455 not counting the tabs. Could be plus or minus a few thou given my calipers are not the best. 1st gen not compatible with 2nd or 3rd gen bolt bodies.

    You would be correct.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Yep. I was wondering if you were just curious or wondering if they were interchangeable. As you now know they definitely are not interchangeable. The 1st gen is its own animal.
