Savage MKII in an Oryx chassis part two. Back post not making contact with the action - Opinions wanted

So, I bought an Oryx chassis and since mounting my action in it, I never could get it to settle down.

I placed a disc of clay on the back post area of the stock and torqued the front action bolt to 35 in lb and the rear post is not making contact with the chassis.

I measured the chassis and the rear mount area is .053" lower than the front mount area.

When I measured the clay impression of the rear mount it was more than .053", so I assume either the front post is not parallel or the pressure of the clay held it off a small amount.

I assume both of the action posts are supposed to be parallel and the same length. At least eyeballing it all three posts seem to line up.

I also clayed the rear post behind the trigger to make sure it is not hitting, and it is not.

Besides bedding the stock, what do you guys think I should do?

It seems like bedding is my only option other than returning the stock.
According to the adverts the Oryx chassis should not need to be bedded.

Does anybody have a dimensioned drawing of a Savage MkII with the accutrigger?

Call MDT 1-360-922-3124. They should have the dimensions for the MKII.

Not sure what your referring to. The Oryx is a v-block type chassis. The action nests into
the block and that's it. I own several and and shoot them in bench rest competitions, both
close and long range.....Would need to see a pic of what's up with the installation. And no,
I do not bed anything on an Oryx. It's not needed with its v-block.

I switched out the plastic stock for a laminate from a BV series MKII. The lamination separated slightly when I tried to torque the rear action screw to 18 in/lbs. When I examined the inlet, there were no impressions from any of the action studs. I don't believe that the action studs were making contact with the laminate stock.

Can you post a pic of the inlet of your Oryx?

You would definitely get better answers than mine from MDT or maybe on Rimfire Central.

The area of the back action screw at the right is the one that is lower.
I think I will try to shim it and see how that works.

I have just figured out that neither the front or rear action boss is contacting the inlet mount surface of the Oryx chassis.

And as Fuj' said above, the Oryx is a v-block type chassis except the V is not deep in the chassis like I expected like a Choate stock.
The V is a chamfer on the sides.

Dont know why it took me so long to figure this out.
