If I remember correctly you need to carefully pry off the silver indian head thing with a small screw driver or blade or something like that. Then under it you will find a screw attaching the plastic cap itself to the stock.
how do you remove the grip cap off of a factory wooden or plastic stock? you know, the black plastic cap with the indian head on it...

Not necessarily. You might be able to remove the indian head emblem in one piece if you're careful. It's glued to the plastic cap.
That's correct, under the Indian head. It's thicker than a normal sticker so you should be able to get it off unharmed.
