110 Ultralite with Omni Port factory Muzzle Brake

I recently purchase a Savage 110 Ultralite in Timber with a Brake (Omni Port - radial Muzzle Brake). I am having trouble removing the Brake, which has a strange star opening. Is there certain tool to remove the brake, so I can easily bore site the rifle?

Can you post a picture of which Brake you have?

If it’s the one I think, it just unscrews. But it’s on with considerable torque, and no flats for a wrench. Or do you have the one with a jam nut to the rear of the Brake?

You shouldn't have to remove the brake to boresight the rifle. If you do want to remove the brake, it should just thread off.

Are you sure that you got the model that you wanted? The ultralite is a carbon wrapped barrel and i don't believe they come with a brake from the factory.

The current catalog doesn’t list an Ultralight with a muzzle brake. The 110 Ultralite Timber w/Brake (https://www.savagearms.com/content?p...mmary&s=57838#) is one of those models that exists on the Savage website but you can’t find it using the Savage search function or by using the filters in the “find a firearm” function. I found the url using Google search. Go figure. I’ll speculate it’s a discontinued model. Maybe it’s a distributor or dealer exclusive. Anyway, since the barrel is from Proof Research, I expect the brake is not a Savage factory part. Maybe start with calling Savage customer service and give them the serial number. They should at least tell you what kind of brake you have.

What Dave asked ? also "bore sighting " ?? are you "eyeballing it" IE; looking down the bore , then through the scope, ect.ect. Or are you using a chamber specific case with a light ?
