I did a trade this week on a mystery Savage .300 rifle. I took a number of pics. Didn't see an "Identify Forum".

*On barrel there is no Model number/type stamp. ~ 24" barrel length ~ The only PAT'D stamping is: May 25 1909 & June 01 1909
*Serial number: 141,5XX =1913 date. Yet earliest year for .300 Savage market introduction was 1920?

*Serial number is only on bottom of barrel. There is no other number(s) stamped elsewhere. The Buttplate and Buttstock both show a stamping of: 'S' & '22'.
*Straight Gripstock with a Schnable fore grip. No engravings on stock or body.
*Receiver has both Brass oblong & Pin indicators
~Could this have once been part of a: .300-.410 set?

The reasons why I selected this rifle is that I'm drawn towards any Take-Down rifles and older Lever Actions. My favorite set of rifles is a pair of Hotchkiss 45-70's. Please feel free to direct me in any more appropriate Forum for this. Nico
