    116 Holdin Capacity

Is there any way by any method to add capacity to my 116 300 Winny. I don't like carrying 3+1 so a few more rounds in her belly would be beneficial. According to the Serial# F508680 it is a 1995 vintage composite stock, stainless plain Jane blind mag TBR. Also, one of my screws that hold the stock to the action somehow rattled out in my saddle scabbard. It is the one just in front of the trigger guard. How would I go about finding one of these?

    Thank you in advance!

As for round count, switch to a stock with bottom metal or use a chassis for AICS mags. They come in 5 & 10 rd for 300WM.

Savage Action screws are easy to find. Here is a factory screw, but a 1/4-28 Buttonhead will work. 2” length, measure & cut to correct spec.

Thank you so much for your previous response. Do you think I will be able to find a stock for this gun made in 1995?

Yes, absolutely. What is it you are primarily doing with this rifle? Your most economical route would likely be the Oryx chassis. Then just use MDT or Accurate magazines.

Whoops, one more question for someone learning. Is the 300 Win Mag considered long, medium or short action? Seems like there is no real standard for the different lengths
    Thanks again!

I appreciate the help Dave. This was a gun that lived in my gun safe for over 15 years as I was in favor of my 700 7mag. My son now is the proud owner of the 7mag and rather than buy new I have decided to put my 300 Win back into service. I rarely need more than 3 rounds where I convert elk to family sized portions but I would feel much more comfortable with 5 or more in the magazine. That is my main goal. I don't mind spending a little $$$ to fix it up. I just know very little about the gun let alone where to fine components to set it up. As mentioned, it is a Model 116 top loader Serial# F508680 (Year 1995 ish).

    Thank you
