After foolishly jumping into the AR market 10-15 years too late in 2018, and then climbing aboard the micro-compact single-stack 9mm pistol bandwagon in 2022 - late to the party again, I just knew it wouldn't be long before Savage Arms would get into the 1911 game as well. I'm starting to think someone at Savage misunderstood the whole "me too" movement thing.

That's a fairly hefty price that they put on it. Yes- 1911s go way higher than that, but it's high enough they are competing against some solid choices...

I agree with you Jim. Day late (or 20 years) & a dollar short! But hey… I’m sure they will have several supporters. And no doubt they will have people buying them and immediately start in on how it’s the most accurettest, and bestist 1911 of all time, evah. LOL!

Don't get me wrong, they look nice and hopefully they'll have success with it. There will always be a market for 1911's, the question is whether or not these will be good enough to compete at their price point. Given the MSRP's I'm guessing the street prices will probably fall in the $1100 to 1300 range or so. That's pretty spendy for a mass produced 1911 considering how many cheaper options are out there of known and proven quality. Lot's of Springfield's, Kimber's, S&W's, Magnum Research's, etc. out there for less, and then there's the plethora of cheap imports like Armscor/Rock Island Armory, ATI, EAA Corp, Garsan, etc. that undercut them by 50% or more on price. It's just a flooded market and unless the Savage proves to be stellar I just don't see them doing well. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I won't be holding my breath.

I'll take my Kimber over the Savage any day and it was cheaper at $800.
