BA 10 Stealth .308 new chassis

I do not like the stock and grip that came on my Stealth I have been looking to upgrade them and from what I'm seeing I should be able to just put a new chassis on there for about the same cost... The problem is I don't know which to go with... From what I've seen all the ones with reasonable cost don't support the AICS mags etc. Can I get some guidance here? What would be a good affordable chassis I could put my Stealth action into?

What is your budget? You mentioned, the ones at reasonable cost don’t use AICS. I would say pretty much every Chassis is AICS. That is their appeal. So let us know your budget first and we can help.

*Remember also, your Stealth uses an MDT LSS Chassis from the the factory. You may not like it, but many do. It’s a desirable course commodity you can sell. So keep that in mind for your budget. New, it goes for $430, not including the shoulder stock or grip.

That is good to know!! That could also increase my budget!! I am wanting to go a different route with the rifle, I am a big dude (6'4") and after about 500 rounds through the rifle I just don't like the feel... I may be mixing terms "chassis" and "stock" but what I was looking at is something like the Choate precision elite, or something along those lines... From reading other threads on here it seems like I could get the center feed SA and my stealth action would drop right in... Is that correct? Is there a better option? If I can get around $400 for my existing chassis, My budget would be in the $650 range.

OK that’s a start. So, there is no Choate Chassis. Choate makes stocks. They have two different models for Savage. They are polymer stocks with Aluminum bedding.

So is it a standard STOCK touching a CHASSIS you want? Do you want your rifle to be
    THIS:

    OR

THIS: (BTW: this is the Precision Elite from Savage. It uses the MDT AAC Chassis, but is out of your budget at $1300.)

If you want a Chassis, the Oryx is about the best deal. Fits AICS mags and it’s ready to go out of the box.

    Oryx

Step up from there you could get the XLR Element Chassis.
    https://www.tacticalworks.com/Elemen...ndustries.html

An “In Between” would be the MDT XRS. It’s sort of a cross between a “stock” & a “Chassis”.

*EDIT* BYW, I’m in the same boat size wise. I’m 6’4” and about 275lbs now. (Was 230lbs in fighting weight). I’ll say this.. it’s better to adjust yourself to your gear, rather than adjust your gear. I was an instructor and constantly harped on this to people. From Grip, to LOP to Stance. Shooters are forever trying to get “comfortable” when they are shooting. And I can tell you, if it feels comfortable, you’re most likely doing it wrong, LOL!

I like the Oryx and the XRS... What would be some of my options if I wanted to go with the traditional rifle (first pic you sent)?

And good to hear I'm talking to a fellow giant!! When I got this rifle I was trying to decide between the RPR and the Stealth... A friend pushed me into the Stealth and I kind of regret it... I have been shooting my whole life, I have built my own AR's and have a decent collection but the one thing I was lacking was a precision rifle... I know there are those that will debate precision as a term for the Stealth but it shoots better than me so I'm good with it LOL!! I'm reloading now so I can actually afford more time at the range and I don't know if comfortable is the right term, but I just don't like the feel of it... I've spent plenty of time behind AR style rifles and traditional and I can't really put my finger on it but every time I shoulder it I wish it was something else... Of the first 3 you sent the Oryx would be my choice but I still think I might want to go with a traditional stock.

Look through these. The stocks for “Short Action” Savage will fit.

There’s also the Kinetic Research. Little bit higher price, but may find it on sale at some point. These are really nice! Again, sort of an “in between” Stock/Chassis hybrid, if you will.

But the Oryx really is about the best deal, dollar for dollar. It punches WAY above its weight group.

My pleasure. Several here use them. If you want good first hand experience using the KRG, send a PM to Txhillbilly. https://www.savageshooters.com/membe...64-Txhillbilly

Sadly that KRG stock has been discontinued for several years. KRG no longer makes any chassis for Savage rifles.

Good job with providing some info Dave.

What Robin said about KRG. DOA

I'm a main user of MDT stocks. I still have and compete with a HS3. Shame they stopped
making it a few years back. I will also recommend the MDT Oryx. I own two, and one has
modded for bench rest. The other I use for steel and wood chucks. Unfortunately I can not
advise on magazines. Both rifle have a magazine block installed to use the center screw on
    a 3 screw SAV-PTA.

Dave....PM me your email addy, and I'll send a pic or two for you to post up here. Still can't
post pics. and my firewall and malware program, block sites such "post mage" and the like.

Here are Fuj’s pics of the Oryx he sent me to post. Very nice indeed. Yeah, that Oryx really is dollar/performance ratio a top contender.

No doubt that bit of custom parts on it helps. Your machining Fuj’? I like it.

Great choice! No doubt it will serve you nicely. BTW: You can get black side panels here. https://volquartsen.com/inventory_configurations/5254

Of course, you can always just spray paint the panels as well, which is what I’d do. Completely changes the look.

McRees also makes some nice chassis for the Savage platform.

Woox also makes them for Savage. I really like the one that I put on my newest custom action build.

The McRees aren’t bad. I’m not very familiar with them beyond what I’ve read.

Very nice looking setup - which bottom metal are you using that fits the Exactus?

KRG (Kinetic Research Group) has announced they will be offering their Bravo hybridd stock/chassis for Savage S/A's with shipping starting sometime this month (Dec. 2022).

    https://kineticresearchgroup.com/product/bravo-savage/

I run one of these on my ARC Nucleus build and I know TxHillbilly has been running one on his for a few years now as well. Unfortunately KRG won't be offering a LH option for the Savage's at this time, but I'm betting if we hound them enough we might be able to convince them to.

Too bad they don’t release the Whiskey-3 for Savage. Think they are missing more of a market than they know.
