Keeping bedding compound out of magwell?

I going to bed my Stevens into a Stockade Prairie Dog Special. I've read the Bedding 101 article and searched but haven't found an answer. How do I keep bedding compound from filling the mag recess in the stock?

Fill the mag well with plumbers putty or playdough.

I didn't go to the extreme of filling the mag well, but I laid a bead of putty around it, most bedding is thick enough it won't run like water.
You might want to find some thin styrofoam and cut slabs to fit between the mag well and stock, seal the top with putty, it might be a bit more forgiving at clean-up.

Double tape the mag well and use dremel tool to carefully sand away excess bedding back to the tape.
