7mm08 to 300wsm

Hello everybody. As the title states I want to re barrel my 7mm08 to a .300wsm. Here’s what I have. Stevens 200 short action rifle with 7mm08 barrel. So I figure I need to change the bolt face, how or where can I get the proper bolt face. Also I read that the 200 is a standard shank and the 300wsm is most likely a large shank but it may be possible to find a standard shank barrel. Any ideas ??

stock wsm hunting is fine but still longer than a short action
target 300 wsm tends to get real long

What is your budget?

The factory WSM bolt has a longer bolt head and firing pin. If you don't purchase or trade for a WSM bolt you need to get a PT&G bolt head that is the standard length. Trust me on this one. You can also use a small shank for the WSM but "may" have extraction problems somewhere down the line. You will probably want a brake, you might want to get a thicker than factory recoil lug if no brake. You will also need a WSM magazine.

Good luck finding a used small shank 300 wsm. Probably going to have to buy a new one.
