    Barrel life

of 6.5 Creedmor. Curious what I could expect with proper care and letting the barrel cool between shots. I thought maybe that caliber was a fad but it actually looks pretty good on paper and there some very desirble features with it. Thinking about another Axis.

Have an Axis 6.5CM...built two for youth elk hunts last coupe of years. I like mine. The two used on elk hunts are 3 for 3...all over 250yards.

The precision shooters running them hot and fast seem to be getting ~2500 rounds before they become minute of deer. I suspect you can get well over that with some proper care...

Oh MAN! AT LEAST 15K.. 20K rounds! While pushing 140, 147, 150gr pills even, at almost 3000fps! And if next month a 158gr bullet comes out, it will send those at the same velocity! Also, of course STILL delivering sub 1/4” MOA. LOL!

Hahahaha.. No, seriously, I agree with above. 2500rds on good terms. Expect less with maxed out loads.

How are they for recoil? I really don't like something that is hard to shoot.

I don't either. On the OEM stock my Axis was 243'sh.

To me the recoil is a bit more than my .243 shooting hot 108gr loads, and much less pounding than a .308. All of mine have brakes are very easy to shoot.

Shooting a 6.5 CM in competition you should get around 2500 rounds before accuracy drops off some. Shooting one as a range rifle, you should easily get 3500 rounds if you're not loading the charges full tilt.
Used for a hunting rifle, it should last several generations of your family.

Recoil is rather pleasant imo. Same with my 260. For a cartridge that can reach out to a mile or take the size game it will, I would call it’s recoil quite friendly indeed. Even not using a brake; something I really don’t think they need. Although, my rifle does have some weight. Certainly less than 308. Not terrible either, but is there.

The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

I guess at my age it is foolish to worry about barrel life. Deal is off anyway, closest store sold it. Omaha has one but they won't transfer it to Lincoln and I am not driving to Omaha for one.
