An "S" barrel stamp dates your rifle as 1966 (R would be 1965) which was first year the 22-250 was offered. Check out the FAQ section under History then select Catalogs, 1966 is found on page 3. ;-)
I recently purchased a left handed 110 in 22-250 caliber. It has a S date code for 1965 and it is the old design with the lug for the rear sight and old design bolt. From what I have read the 22-250 wasn’t offered in 1965. The serial # is 61283 and has a jeweled bolt, nice wood and no provisions for sights. What do I have here? Thanks for any input.

I see that the 22-250 is offered in the 1966 catalog but it isn’t in my 1965 catalog. All of the date code listings I have found say a S code is 1965. I’m wondering if it is a late 1965 model after the catalog was printed after Remington introduced the 22-250 in 1965.
Certainly possible.
