    Rare?? Engraved 99!! Help please

I inherited a handful of savage rifles I can find lots of info on most of them but this one I know itÂ’s a 99 but I need help finding specifics and possible price so I can insure it. Cabelas gunoligist appraised it at 9k but I figured I would ask the savage experts. All work is from factory but IÂ’ve never seen work done like this please follow link to see pictures

I would say none of the work is factory, especially the stock work! I couldn't find any factory engraving that looks like that! OTOH, it was done by a very skilled craftsman and nicely done. The previous owner loved that gun and it's is a family heirloom for sure!!
BTW, the people that work at the big box sporting goods stores never impressed me with their lack of knowledge!!

There was an engraver by the name of Ziggie Rentzschke that worked at Savage Arms in late 50's and very early 60's, and he did engrave some 99's. The stock on this to me looks definitely aftermarket with the inlays, animal carvings and recoil pad.

But the engraving? Well.. it's probable that it's aftermarket, but not impossible that it's one of Rentzschke's guns if it's a very early 60's gun.

Rentzschke did the 1 Millionth Savage 99 engraving.

Very impressive metal work. Whoever did that to the stock should be hung in the town square at dawn though. . Just kidding, it was obviously very special to someone.
