    1899 Furniture?

    Hi Folks,

Is 1899 crescent butt interchangeable with Savage 99 straight stock wood? Thanks, PAX

Don't know for certain and I'm no 99 expert by any means, but I think it depends on the year range as IIRC there were some subtle changes to the receiver over the years that affected stock fit. Link below lists three different "series", maybe call them and they can give you some more detailed info on any differences over the years that you'll need to watch out for.

What I've learned is that the "newer" type straight stocks, can work on 1899s with some inletting in the tang area. Thanks, PAX
