    How do I identify what series a pre 1995 110 30-06?

Hello Need information about a savage model 110 30-06 model F492911? How do find what series? Can I fix the trigger pull? Can I upgrade THE 20" barrel?

Yes you can. If it has an older 3 screw trigger, hey can be adjusted to a pretty decent pull for hunting. If not a three screw, the aftermarket support is good with better triggers. If you don't want to change the bolt head, you can rebarrel to any caliber with the same bolt head diameter (.473") in any length you would like.

You have one of the years of “Long Actions Only”, regardless of caliber. It’s a Flat back receiver & like GaCop pointed out, and I do believe it uses the 3-screw trigger with bar style trigger spring. It’s easy to tell if it is a 3screw. Just look at this thread and also explains how to adjust the trigger & replace the spring with .040” piano spring wire, or using the wire from a Buzzbait. https://www.savageshooters.com/conte...ent-Procedures Many prefer the 3-screw triggers over the Accutrigger. And yes, they can be made very, very nice! To really make it nice, one needs the know how to dress the trigger/sear mating surfaces to perfectly flat as well.

Your 20” barrel again, as GaCop said, can easily be replaced. There are how too’s on this site.

These guys have covered it. But...if you have never touched a trigger mechanism before, please do not try to change this one. It is too easy to make a trigger that is not safe to use. You can also ruin one if not careful. It takes a bit of skill and knowledge to properly 'fix' a trigger. And, yes, I learned the hard way, even after reading about how to do it.

Barrels on Savages can be 'easily' replaced, but, you still need a couple special tools to do it.

Well said Charlie. I agree with 100%. As I’ve said in the past, a Dremel is NOT a trigger’s friend. If nothing else, there are several aftermarket triggers that will work equally if not better than the stock worked trigger.
